Amina fled Eritrea after facing persecution due to her family’s political views. Like many refugees, she endured a long, perilous journey to safety, with little more than the clothes on her back and her young child in tow. After spending months in overcrowded camps, Amina was connected with our refugee support network.

Upon arriving at one of our partner shelters, Amina was provided with:

  • Temporary housing for her and her child.

  • Basic healthcare to address her and her child’s immediate health concerns.

  • Legal assistance to help her navigate refugee status applications.

But the real transformation began when Amina enrolled in our vocational training program. Through the support of Eritrea Arise, she learned to sew, a skill that enabled her to start a small tailoring business. With the income from her new business, Amina has been able to send her child to school and build a stable, sustainable future for her family.

Impact:
Today, Amina is not only financially independent but also a leader within her community, offering sewing lessons to other refugee women who are seeking a way to support their families. Her story is just one example of how Eritrea Arise is helping refugees regain their dignity and build a new life.

Conclusion:
Amina’s journey is a testament to the resilience of refugees and the transformative power of support. Eritrea Arise is proud to be part of her journey, and we’re grateful for the donors whose contributions make these success stories possible.
